At 81 years young, Jerry Gifford has spent 64 years entertaining audiences across the Tri-State, and he isn't slowing down anytime soon.
On Thursday, June 18, Gifford and longtime musical partner Mike Meredith will bring their duo, Hey Bartender, to Behringer-Crawford Museum's Music@BCM summer concert series for an evening of classic favorites, rock hits, country tunes and original songs.
While Hey Bartender has been performing together for the past decade, Gifford and Meredith's musical partnership stretches back an incredible 62 years. Together, they spent 50 years performing as the popular regional band Strange Brew, becoming fixtures of Northern Kentucky's music scene.
A two-time Northern Kentucky Music Legends inductee, Gifford helped establish the Northern Kentucky Music Legends program 13 years ago after recognizing the importance of preserving and celebrating the region's rich musical heritage. Throughout his career, he has shared stages with and opened for nationally known acts including Little Feat, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Molly Hatchet, The Bellamy Brothers, Delbert McClinton and Paul Rodgers of Bad Company. He has also performed at the WEBN Fireworks, recorded music featured on TouchTunes and lent his voice to the Bengals anthem, “The Orange and Black Are Back.”
A former Dayton City Councilman and proud Northern Kentuckian, Gifford remains passionate about music and the local community. Together, he and Meredith perform an eclectic mix of songs spanning generations, featuring everything from Frank Sinatra and Van Morrison to Jimmy Buffett, Garth Brooks, classic rock favorites and original compositions.
