Tudor Singers on the Road
We hear a lot about Renaissance composers, but Dr. Kerry McCarthy will talk about the people who actually sang their music and brought it to life, sometimes in quite challenging circumstances, and how touring as a musician with Henry VIII wasn’t all that different from touring with Taylor Swift!
Kerry McCarthy is a musician and author who has published widely on the English Renaissance, including award-winning new biographies of the composers William Byrd and Thomas Tallis. She is now writing her fourth book, an exploration of the lives of professional singers in Tudor England. She lives in Portland, where she was born and raised.
