Dan Shiller, a world percussionist from Austintown, Ohio will present a program woven around Anansi (a spider) who is the most popular character in West African folklore and is associated with wisdom, knowledge, and trickery. Dan will be performing on the gyil, a pentatonic instrument from Ghana, and the steel pan from Trinidad; both of which contain imagery from spiders.
