Museum Lecture: Uncovering the Hidden Truth of the Diving Horses
A look into the facts and fiction surrounding those who originated and operated the iconic Atlantic City Steel Pier diving horse act from 1929 to 1978. After the act’s ignominious ending, the last horse, 28-year-old Gamal, was rescued by the author at an auction. Horse and human went on to share nine years together, during which time they came to know and trust one another, teaching each other important lessons of living and loving. Ms. Branigan’s talk, which blends her personal journey with a slice of New Jersey and American history, will be accompanied by slides, last approximately 30 minutes and will be followed by a question and answer session and book signing.
