A fully-staged production of Mozart's "The Abduction from the Seraglio" set in the 1500's, with a top-notch cast, costumes, sets, orchestra and chorus. Belmonte, a rich Spaniard, sails to the Turkey of the Ottoman Empire to rescue his girlfriend Konstanze from a harem, where she is being kept after pirates raided her ship and sold her to Pasha Selim. This is Mozart's first big hit in Vienna, where the Emperor wanted to establish a German-language opera to curb the influence of Italian opera.
