PrintAustin will welcome nationally recognized artist Dennis McNett, also known as Wolfbat, to Austin this fall for an artist residency presented in partnership with Mexic-Arte Museum, culminating in a free community mask-making workshop and participation in the museum’s annual Viva la Vida Parade on October 24. Known for his bold relief prints, carved imagery, elaborate masks, installations and immersive performances, McNett has built a distinctive visual language influenced by mythology, storytelling, skate and punk culture, and traditional printmaking. His collaborative projects invite participants to become part of the artwork itself. During his Austin residency, McNett will lead free mask-making workshops, giving community members an opportunity to work alongside the artist to create wearable artwork. The project culminates on October 24, when participants will bring their creations to Mexic-Arte Museum’s Viva la Vida Parade, transforming the workshop from a hands-on printmaking experience into a public celebration.
