Minna Fu, now 16, is an accomplished pianist from Pleasanton, California. At the age of 10, Minna achieved her first performance diploma as an Associate of the Royal Schools of Music with distinction. By 12, she had obtained a Diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and in 2022, she earned the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music with distinction. This June, she obtained the Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM) with merit (distinction in piano performance), the highest diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
Minna has won first prize in numerous competitions, including the Diablo Symphony Orchestra Yen Liang Young Artists Competition, the Sergei Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition in Houston, Northern California Young Talents, the United States Open Music Competition, Glissando International Youth Piano Competition, and the Russian Souvenir Piano Competition. She has also received top prizes in the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, the Pacific International Piano Competition, the United States International Music Competition, the Future Stars International Piano Competition, the Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, the Lancaster International Piano Competition, and the American Protégé Music Competitions.
As the winner of the Livermore-Amador Symphony Orchestra Competition for Young Musicians, Minna performed as a piano soloist in April 2023 with the orchestra at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore. That same month, she was also a soloist with the Diablo Symphony Orchestra at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek.
Since the age of 9, Minna has been giving annual piano recitals. Her 6th annual recital in 2023 was a fundraiser for the nonprofit Music for Minors II, for which she has been volunteering to give weekly music lessons to elementary school students since 2022.
Minna has also performed at music festivals, graduations, church fundraisers, and senior centers. She has been a collaborative pianist and accompanist for school choirs and church. She plays piano on her own YouTube channel with over 8 thousand subscribers from around the world. This year, Minna received a grant from The Rotary Club of Pleasanton for her voluntary work and musical achievements.
She has also performed in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Caroline H. Hume Concert Hall, and Barbro Osher Recital Hall. Minna has been studying piano with her mother, Dr. Claire Chen, since the age of 5.
