The Mics & Manuscripts Book Festival is coming to East Austin on Sunday, September 28, 2025, and it’s unlike any other literary event you’ve experienced. Hosted by Austin native, author, publisher, and playwright Trina “TiTi Ladette” Cleveland, this festival is a bold celebration of storytelling, literacy, and community. The event is FREE TO THE PUBLIC.
An Unordinary Festival Experience
Unlike traditional book fairs, every participating author at Mics & Manuscripts will have a chance to shine. Each vendor receives five minutes on the mic to share their story, read an excerpt, or engage directly with the audience. This unique format makes the festival interactive, lively, and deeply personal, giving attendees a rare opportunity to connect with authors beyond the page.
What to Expect
📚 Author Vendor Tables – Meet local and regional authors, buy books directly from them, and hear their stories.
🎤 Live Readings – Every author has mic time, creating a stage where their voices and stories can be heard.
🎟 VIP Experiences – Intimate breakout sessions with leading publishers, filmmakers, and authors who have a proven track record of success. Attendees will leave with insider knowledge, resources, and signed books.
👧🏽 Kidz Korner – A family-friendly area with face painting, balloon art, games, and children’s book readings, designed to inspire the next generation of readers.
🍴 Food Trucks – A variety of local food vendors serving up Austin’s favorite flavors, creating a festival vibe that blends literature, culture, and community.
💼 Networking Opportunities – Connect with writers, readers, publishers, entrepreneurs, and creatives across multiple industries.
Why It Matters
Mics & Manuscripts is more than an event—it’s a cultural movement. By spotlighting diverse voices, particularly Black and Brown authors, the festival empowers creators while encouraging literacy and keeping dollars circulating in the East Austin community. It’s a grassroots effort to make literature accessible, relevant, and exciting for all ages.
