Join Michael Sierra-Arévalo and Brittany Friedman as they discuss The Danger Imperative on April 12 at 7:00 pm at North Figueroa Bookshop.
Michael Sierra-Arévalo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Associate Director of the Liberal Arts Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin. His new book, The Danger Imperative: Violence, Death, and the Soul of Policing, shows how policing’s preoccupation with danger shapes police culture and violence in the United States.
Dr. Brittany Friedman, a sociologist, creator, and author with a PhD in Sociology from Northwestern University, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California. She is a ’23-24 American Association of University Women faculty postdoc and an Affiliated Scholar of the American Bar Foundation.
