Organized in dialogue with the 250th anniversary of the United States, the Miami Fiber Triennial 2026 arrives at a moment of heightened reflection on national identity, civic memory, migration, labor, and belonging. Rather than approaching fiber as a decorative or secondary medium, the Triennial positions textile practices as critical languages through which artists examine the structures that shape contemporary life: the home, the body, the city, the border, the archive, the ritual, and the nation itself.
“Fiber holds the stories that official histories often leave out,” said Marco Caridad, Artistic Director of MIFA. “It carries memory, labor, migration, domestic life, resistance, care, and survival. Through this Triennial, FAMA and MIFA are creating a platform where textile is understood as a living system, one that connects personal experience with larger social, political, and cultural narratives.”
