Metamorphosis Dance Present The Red Shoes
Newly orphaned Kara is always barefoot, but a Shoemaker takes pity on her and makes her flimsy red shoes. The Shoemaker and his wife convince a Good Woman in town to adopt her. The Good Woman purchases new shoes and clothes for the young girl, but Kara covets more than the practical items her guardian can afford. The Good Woman cannot see well, and the Shoemaker and Kara deceive her by getting fancy red shoes instead of proper black shoes for her confirmation. Throughout her life, Kara's vanity and pride continue to consume her thoughts and she remains completely fixated on her red shoes. She refuses to stop dancing and listen to the caution from those that care about her.
This Spring, audiences will discover how this story unfolds and witness Kara's transformation and the consequences of her choices as she is tempted by the lure of the red shoes.
