Meet Francis Scott Key: Author of The Star-Spangled Banner (Henrico 250)
Ages 12+. As dawn arrived 210 years ago today, Francis Scott Key witnessed that the American flag still flew over Fort McHenry after a 25-hour bombardment by British naval cannons. While still on the ship, Key penned the words to what would become known as “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Join costumed historian, Charles Wissinger, as he portrays Francis Scott Key and shares the story of how our national anthem began.
