MAUNDY THURSDAY - Traditional Tenebrae and Service of Holy Communion & Decreasing Light
Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday, is the Christian observance on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples, as described in the New Testament. "Maundy" is derived from the Latin word "mandatum," meaning commandment, referring to Jesus' commandment to his disciples to love one another as he loved them.
Through word, music and the Lord’s Supper, this service dramatizes the suffering, death, and burial of Jesus. The choir will present a powerful and dramatic cantata, “It is Finished” with organ and an instrumental ensemble that includes strings, winds and percussion. All are invited to attend.
Nursery care is available for children aged 3 and younger.
