Matt Goad’s “Gentrifying Mars,” an Exhibition at 1515 Lincoln Gallery

The exhibition showcases Goad's latest works, which explore otherworldly landscapes imbued with profound personal significance. Reflecting on his show, Goad states, “The rocket ship has been thrown off course and crash-landed on a desolate expanse of red dirt. Gentrifying Mars explores themes of loneliness, longing, self-reliance, personal discovery, and healing. Departing from the bright, flat colors of my previous work, this series ventures into darker territories, employing more subdued palettes and rough textures through new mixed media techniques.” Using familiar iconography, such as astronaut-like characters inhabiting strange, desolate worlds and performing varied motions, Goad connects us to our shared humanity. His captivating paintings offer a glimpse into the mind of an artist whose work deeply reflects his journey. Throughout this series, we see echoes of his past work, but with this latest collection, he transports us to new realms. Matt Goad’s Gentrifying Mars opens to the public on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 1515 Lincoln Gallery, with an opening reception from 6 to 8 pm. Join us at the gallery to celebrate the opening!
