Mathis Picard Trio//Jovino Santos Neto

Coming off the heels of pianist/composer Mathis Picard’s new album Heat Of The Moment on La Reserve records, the Mathis Picard Trio (where Picard is joined by Jonathan Pinson on drums and Parker McAllister on bass) make their Seattle debut with a night of music rooted in Picard’s research on the connections between healing and presence. Inviting both the trio and listener on a unique musical journey, Heat of the Moment calls upon Picard’s experiences on the road, personal meditation practice, and dearest musical collaborations to provide both a balm and a sonic road map to facing the greatest challenge of our times – healing planet Earth. Mathis Picard, born May 30th, 1995, is a French-Malagasy pianist, composer, producer, and bandleader who currently resides in New York City. Rooted in the tradition of live acoustic performance while incorporating the latest technology, Mathis creates his own musical style that is influenced by his multinational background. Mathis, who began playing the piano at the age of 3, was immediately passionate about music’s healing quality and now focuses on sharing that passion globally. Mathis currently leads a solo project, a trio project and his orchestra, “The Sound Orchestra”. Mathis has had the honor of working with artists such as Ron Carter, Lillias White, Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Lee Ritenour, Daniel J Watts, DJ Kindness, Braxton Cook, Veronica Swift, Etienne Charles, Cyrille Aimee & more. Jovino Santos Neto opens the evening. 3-time Latin Grammy nominee Jovino Santos Neto is a master pianist, flutist, composer, arranger, conductor and educator from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After 15 years as a member of the legendary Hermeto Pascoal Group, he moved to Seattle in 1993. Since then, Jovino has established himself as a charismatic performer, whether playing solo piano, leading his Trio, his award-winning Quinteto, or in guest appearances with ensembles and orchestras worldwide. He has shared the stage and the studio with some of the most creative musicians of our times. Jovino lectures online and in person the connections between Music and Nature.
