Inspiration for event:
“In 2020, while COVID was keeping us all at home, I was seeking an enriching service project for our Rotary Interactors who were still meeting weekly online. We decided to explore Southern Maryland heritage through virtual interviews with veteran Marylanders. The stories we collected through these interviews were so intriguing that I began to wonder how we could share them with the community. As the days of COVID passed and I ran many miles around our neighborhood, this event—celebrating the past and future of Maryland—slowly came together in my mind. It has taken months of work to apply for grant funds, reach out to partners, contract performance groups, and guide our Interactors as they developed independent presentations, and it has been a fantastic creative experience. We are excited to bring together Maryland’s past and present through the arts and humanities, with hands-on experiences, exciting performances, and a rich array of activities presented by our many amazing partners.” —Georgia Ypma Bonney, NCAC Director
