Different Stages continues its 2025-2026 season with Man of the People, a true story that dramatizes the rise and fall of Dr. John R. Brinkley, a notorious 1920’s medical charlatan who claimed to cure impotence with goat gland transplants – and the Chicago doctor who tried to stop him. Set against a backdrop of early American radio and unregulated medicine, the play explores America’s deep-rooted relationship with quacks, populists, and the power of broadcast media to shape public perception.
Directed by Mary Alice Carnes, Man of the People features Tom Chamberlain, Annie Merritt, Chuck Winkler, Beau Paul, Adrian Villegas, and Sue Breland.
Performances are Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Added performance Wednesday January 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are: $17, $27, $37 you pick your price.
