Maewyn Padilla | Artist of the Month - June Exhibition at The 8th House

If you've ever stopped dead in your tracks on a sidewalk near UNM, Downtown, or Old Town Albuquerque — there's a good chance Maewyn Padilla is the reason why. Since 2021, this born-and-raised Albuquerque artist has been turning concrete into canvases, chalking larger-than-life cartoon figures paired with quotes that make you laugh, think, and look twice. Her street work belongs to everyone — unhangable, unbuyable, gloriously temporary. But this June, something rare is happening. Maewyn Padilla is bringing her art indoors. The 8th House is proud to present Maewyn Padilla as our June 2026 Artist of the Month, on view from Friday, June 5th through Sunday, June 28th. This exhibition showcases her mixed media work — bold, layered pieces built from spray paint, house paint, wooden cutouts, ink, acrylic, resin, and pencil. Rooted in the nostalgia of childhood cartoons and video games and charged with the fearless energy of street art, her work is vivid, witty, and completely alive. Don't miss the Meet the Artist event on Friday, June 19th from 5–7 PM. Come meet Maewyn in person, enjoy drinks and treats, and discover the stories behind the work.
