Livingston Symphony Orchestra: "Russian Storytellers"
Join the Livingston Symphony for this exciting and emotionally wrenching live season opening concert.
In this program, Conductor and Music Director Anthony LaGruth poses the question,“what do a captive prince and an imaginary soldier have in common?” and surmises, that “like all of us, they are subject to fate.” In works chosen, Borodin’s Prince Igor and fictitious Lt. Kije, in a suite by Prokofiev, find themselves in situations well beyond their control. Tchaikovsky, in his monumental, self-described “fate” Symphony No.4, then grapples with a tumultuous year that he feels fate has brought him, to ultimately emerge with life affirming energy.
Familiar and lyrical melodies, exciting dance and syncopated rhythms, unique instrumentation, and the dedication of a group of professional level musicians make for an evening not to be missed. Tickets are available online or at the door,,$25 (adults); $15 (seniors and students); free(under 12).
