Enjoy the mastery of this artist this Saturday evening, October 25, as the Livingston Symphony Orchestra presents their opening concert, "Hector Berlioz: Inside the Score." Marked by Berlioz's overactive imagination and vivid orchestral coloring, the program chosen includes two of his most popular works, his "Roman Carnival Overture" and "Symphony Fantastique." Based on themes from one of his three operas, the overture features a beautiful love song introduced by English horn and explodes into a joyful celebration led by the orchestra's brass section. With "Symphony Fantastique," Berlioz's unrequited love for a Shakespearean actress transforms into images of a ballroom dance, a country scene, and a dream sequence depicting jealous rage, a sinister execution and finally a satanic fugue. A lecture and demonstration led by natural storyteller Maestro Anthony LaGruth promises to guide the audience through an exciting journey...
