The National Civil Rights Museum is hosting the “Live at the Lorraine” music series as part of its goal to highlight arts and culture and their contributions to the Civil Rights Movement past and present. Acknowledging music’s role in the heart of how the Movement mobilized and unified people, the Museum is presenting quarterly concerts as a celebration of the rich cultural heritage found in Memphis. Each concert ticket includes an open bar, light nibbles, and an opening performance in spoken word, comedy or live art by Memphis creatives.
On April 6, Karen Brown is the featured artist and a local favorite who blends the soulful artistry of her church choir experience with the moving emotions of the great R&B legends and delivers a performance that is uniquely her own. She is a celebrated singer whose powerful voice and soulful performances have garnered acclaim both locally and beyond. With roots deeply entrenched in the rich musical heritage of Memphis, she effortlessly channels the spirit of the blues and gospel into her music.
