Chruscinski to Headline Major Lake Worth Beach Exhibition Lake Worth Beach, FL — The cultural community of Palm Beach County and the greater South Florida region is invited to celebrate a living legacy in the arts as internationally trained artist, professor, curator, and collector Walter J. Chruscinski presents a special exhibition in Lake Worth Beach from April 10–17, 2026. At 88 years old, Chruscinski’s career spans more than six decades of artistic excellence, scholarship, and cultural leadership bridging Poland and the United States. His formal training began at the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BA, 1958–1962). He continued with a Graduate Assistantship (1962–1963) at Carnegie Mellon University, followed by advanced studies in 1963 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw as a Student at Large. By 1964, he was appointed Instructor at Carnegie Mellon University. From 1965–1975, he taught at the Young Artists Studio at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, shaping emerging talent during a pivotal era in American art education. For nearly three decades (1965–1994), Chruscinski served as Department Chairman and Instructor at New Trier School in Winnetka, Illinois, where his leadership influenced generations of artists and educators. His cultural contributions extend far beyond the classroom: • Recipient of the Kosciuszko Foundation Foreign Study Grant (1971–1972), conducting ethnographic studies at the University of Warsaw’s Department of Ethnography. • Appointed (1983–1989) by the Governor of Illinois to serve on the Illinois Arts Council, shaping statewide arts policy. • Curator of major exhibitions at the Chicago Cultural Center, including: o Polish Folk Art (1981) o Religious Textile (1983) o Parish Treasures: 150th Anniversary of the Catholic Church in Chicago (1993) Since 1965 to the present, Chruscinski has exhibited extensively, including numerous venues throughout Palm Beach County and South Florida. As both artist and collector, his work reflects deep reverence for heritage, craftsmanship, and cultural memory — blending European tradition with American modernism. The April 2026 exhibition in Lake Worth Beach offers collectors, curators, and the public a rare opportunity to experience the work of a master whose life embodies resilience, scholarship, and devotion to the arts. This exhibition is not simply a display of artwork — it is a celebration of nearly 70 years of artistic dedication and cultural stewardship.
