Leslie Pino Durant: Artist of the Month at The 8th House, Sept. 5 Event & Monthlong Show

This September, The 8th House proudly presents Leslie Pino Durant as our Artist of the Month. Based in Placitas, New Mexico, Leslie is a mixed-media artist whose work is a vibrant celebration of color, resilience, and strong women. Her journey into art began in her late 40s while navigating multiple sclerosis, transforming painting from a personal refuge into a powerful form of creative expression. Throughout all of September, visitors to The 8th House can explore Leslie’s striking mixed-media pieces, which combine collage, acrylics, stencils, and pencil markings into layered, textured compositions full of floral vibrancy and emotional depth. Each artwork invites viewers to step into a world of empowerment, reflection, and connection. The showcase kicks off with a special Meet the Artist evening on Friday, September 5th, from 5–7 PM, where Leslie will share her inspirations, creative process, and stories behind her pieces. This is a rare opportunity to meet the artist in person, ask questions about her work, and experience the energy of her art up close. Leslie’s accomplishments include features in juried exhibitions across New Mexico, participation in MSAA Art Showcases (2020–2025), and being featured on the cover of the International Journal of MS Care (March/April 2021). She is also the Social Media Specialist for the New Mexico State Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, advocating for women artists statewide.
