Lenten Service of Choral Evensong
On Sunday, March 23rd at 4:00 p.m., a special service of choral Evensong will be sung by our Parish Choir of Adults under the direction of Kevin Johnson, Organist-Choirmaster. This service is offered to enrich the observance of the Lenten season. It has been sung daily since the 16th century in cathedrals, collegiate chapels and parish churches around the world. Evensong is a uniquely Anglican service which includes the reading of holy scripture and the chanting of psalms, canticles and prayers by the choir and hymns sung by the congregation. The music for the service will include two anthems written by contemporary American composers. All are welcome. A free-will offering will be received for the benefit of the music program.
