Lead the Fight: Building a Trauma-Proof World with the UN’s Benjamin Perks
Center for Child Counseling will continue its 2025 Lead the Fight series featuring Benjamin Perks who works for the UN in New York. Emceed by WPTV 5 award-winning journalist Joel Lopez and hosted by Kathy Leone, the event will take place at The Breakers on Tuesday, September 9, at 3:30 PM.
Perks is a global leader in the movement to end childhood trauma and violence. Campaigning on human rights and child development for the UN in New York, Perks drives international efforts to protect children and promote healing, resilience, and well-being. He is a leading global advocate on issues related to child poverty, education, mental health, early childhood development, and prevention of violence against children. He is a senior fellow at the Jubilee Centre at the University of Birmingham in the UK and an associate member at Oxford University Department of Social Policy and Innovation.
Perks is the author of the newly released book, Trauma Proof: Healing, Attachment, and the Science of Prevention—a powerful exploration of how connection and care can break the cycle of intergenerational trauma.
