Join Providence Journal columnist Dan Harrington for this true story of the long-forgotten sinking of the steamship Larchmont off Watch Hill, RI in February 1907. Amidst gale-force winds and 20-foot waves, the Larchmont collided with the schooner Harry Knowlton three miles off-shore. Passengers and crew had little chance of survival in the brutal conditions. This illustrated story of tragedy and heroism will leave you deeply moved. Free and open to adults, registration not required. Sponsored by the Friends of the Peace Dale Library.
