It’s the most exciting time of the year for many Western New Yorkers: farmers market season! The Kenmore Farmers Market is a catch-all for a plethora of scratch-made food producers and produce growers. Stop by the intersection of Delaware Road & Delaware Avenue this Sunday morning as the Village of Kenmore kicks off the 2024 farmers market season. Sundays from June 16th through October 27th, the Kenmore Village Green (located at 2919 Delaware Ave.) comes alive with tent after tent of the area’s best food producers and loads of excited community members— they even have picnic tables for eating and visiting! This food-based, producer-only market hosts a fantastic line-up of 40+ fresh and prepared foods with a strong commitment to craft production. Market manager, Lauren Willett-Benson states, “We just keep growing bigger and stronger each year with more to offer our neighbors! The Kenmore Farmers Market is a special kind of community marketplace. The visitors are warm and supportive, and our collective of vendors is diverse, innovative, and collaborative. Our main mission is to provide WNY neighbors with the opportunity to shop directly from friendly small businesses and forge connections with local makers, producers, and growers while learning about their products and process.” Fan favorites include fresh local produce (everyone goes crazy for berries, peaches, tomatoes, corn, melons, and greens!), raw honey and NYS maple syrup, gorgeous baked goods including warm loaves of bread, bagels, cookies and sweet treats, handmade dumplings and knishes, small-batch coffee, fresh pressed juices, pantry staples such as olive oil, pickles, roasted nuts, pet treats, herbal and CBD products, wine and spirits, and even beautiful cut flower bouquets for the table or hanging baskets for the porch. Hungry? Grab a hot breakfast sandwich, mini pancakes, nutrition dense date bar, or visit the mobile creperie. Newer additions to the market include allergy friendly baked goods (v/gf), wildflower mead, pizza, gelato, empanadas, cricket protein, and a new farm on wheels! Each week the market hosts a small selection of guest vendors as well as two local artisans for gift-worthy shopping. The market opens this Sunday morning and runs from 9am-1pm through the fall. With live musicians every week, story time on second Sundays provided by the Kenmore Branch Library (and visits from the Erie County Library bookmobile), a balloon artist, face painter, and other special pop-ups, this is a family event that you won’t want to miss. There is ample parking within walking distance of the market including public parking available in municipal lots behind businesses that line Delaware Avenue, as well as on the surrounding residential streets.
