Ken Waldman and The Wild Ones

Ken Waldman plays old-time Appalachian fiddle, clawhammer banjo and mandolin on his nine albums of original Appalachian-style music, traditional tunes, and poetry. He survived a small plane crash near Nome, Alaska in 1996; since then he has been a full-time touring artist.

Waldman will be joined by banjo player, Rich Kuras, and expect surprise guests. Rich Kuras started playing banjo and calling square dances 45 years ago while in college in upstate New York before transferring to Oregon State University. In 1983 he started teaching Science at Mark Morris High School in Longview, and from 1988 until 1998 he taught Science and regional History at Cascade Middle School, also in Longview. That year, Rich and his family moved near Tacoma where he sometimes performed in a duo with his wife, Robin, doing children's shows. He has recently retired after 38 years of teaching.
