Kelly Brunarski: Curiouser & Curiouser
The SCAC is pleased to present Art North 2023 Winner Kelly Brunarski‘s solo photography exhibition, "Curiouser & Curiouser: A View Through My Looking Glass", in the Westheimer Gallery for August 2024!
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Kelly Brunarski currently resides in Cincinnati, with her husband and two Borzoi dogs. Upon her retirement as a professor at Miami University, she formed Dancing Through Life Photography, Inc. In 2023, her photography won best in show in both Montgomery’s Exposure photo contest and in SCAC’s Art North Exhibit. Her work also placed second in Evendale’s 2023 Juried Photo Exhibit. Kelly currently serves as vice president of the Photography Club of Greater Cincinnati and her images have been featured in the AKC Gazette and in calendars for both the Cincinnati Nature Center and the Hamilton County Parks system.
Kelly’s interest in photography was piqued through her desire to preserve the memory of her beloved Borzoi dog companions. Later, her interests evolved to focus on photography as fine art, often using less common photographic methods such as infrared spectrum imaging. Her recent work depicts the extraordinary nature of ordinary things and tells the stories of the unique animals and people she encounters. Many of her images evoke a sense of nostalgia and whimsy. Frequent subject matter for her images includes found objects photographed in a painterly style, street life, and images from the natural world captured in unusual and thought-provoking ways.

"Curiouser & Curiouser" runs August 2 – 24 in the Westheimer Gallery. Hours are 3-7PM Thursday and Friday, 10AM – 2PM Saturday, or by appointment (contact [email protected] to plan your visit). Please Note: The Gallery will be closed Saturday August 17.
