July 3 Patriotic Concert
The concert program explores the colors of our shared cultural story through music that spans centuries, styles, and generations. From patriotic anthems to pop, classical masterworks, and beloved favorites, this program reflects the rich and evolving soundtrack of our nation.
The concert opens with powerful symbols of national pride, including The Star-Spangled Banner and an Armed Forces Salute, and closes with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture featuring live cannon fire. Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue brings jazzy brilliance and American innovation to the stage, while pop and rock selections add hues of other colors.
BAMSO welcomes co-hosts Suzanne Bona and Elaine Diehl from WGUC who will also lend their musical talents on flute and vocals during the concert. Artistic Director Michael Chertock conducts and performs the solo for Rhapsody in Blue. Other special guests include Julie Spangler on keyboards and vocals, and mother/daughter duo Angela Yeo & Eryn Baek singing America the Beautiful.
Bring your lawn chairs! Well behaved pets are welcome! Food and drink will be available for purchase at the park prior to the concert. The Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be providing demonstrations and living history beginning at 6pm.
