Twice recognized by Crain's Detroit Business, Raines currently serves as the COO of New Detroit, an organization dedicated to dismantling racism. Raines got her start in community philanthropy with the Skillman Foundation. She then earned a JD from Wayne State University and practiced law at Bodman PLC. Raines later served as the director of the Jewish Fund and at the Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation. The 2025 Knowledge Production Award goes to JHSM Vice President Nadav Pais-Greenapple, a scholar of Yiddish and Jewish Detroit.
