Jefferson Lab’s free open house events give people of all ages an opportunity to explore its world-class research facility. Highlights of the event include tours of the lab’s unique research facilities, hands-on activities, and interactive demonstrations with the people behind Jefferson Lab’s technologies and research.
Popular tour stops include portions of the unique Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility, where more than 1,800 scientists from around the world carry out groundbreaking research to understand the basic building blocks of matter. Members of the public will also be able to enter active research and development centers, cryogenic facilities and our supercomputing center. The event also offers plenty of hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations for children, including the very popular cryogenics show.
