In this three-session mini-course, Javon Jackson will use a different lens to help you appreciate the emotional honesty and social awareness of Dylan’s music.
Jackson, Professor of Jazz and Director of the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School, recently released a new album, Jackson Plays Dylan.
Jackson reinterprets Dylan’s work with rich tenor sound and a band attentive to texture and flow. He’ll trace his own evolving appreciation of Dylan, plus play excerpts, along with The Hartt School’s jazz pianist Matt DeChamplain.
