Jazz in the Park the opening event of the Sarasota Jazz Festival
The Annual Sarasota Jazz Festival opens on Sunday March 17 and continues until March 23. The festival features a variety of events beginning with Jazz in the Park at 12 noon on the lawn near the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium featuring 3 bands. Other festival events of the week long festival include the trolley pub crawl with 11 bands at 11 venues in downtown Sarasota, an award winning documentary film, evening concerts with local and international musicians, late night jam sessions and more. include the downtown trolley/pub crawl, Opening the festivities is El Cyclon, a Booker High School Jazz ensemble with a vocalist. They are followed by the Pete BarenBregge All Star Quartet. BarenBregge is the former director of the renowned USAF Airmen of Note. The finale features one of the area's most popular performers, vocalist Synia Carroll and her quartet. Gates open 11:30 am. Food trucks and beverages available for purchase. No coolers allowed.
