Jazz at Stowaway presents: Anni Kiviniemi
Finnish jazz pianist and composer Anni Kiviniemi is an enchanting performer who exhibits a strong voice and clear musical vision. She has toured extensively in Scandinavia, UK, Ireland, Australia and Canada with her own ensembles and as a solo performer. Her dynamic piano playing crosses musical boundaries and genres, and one can hear the melancholy undertones of Finnish folk music and 20th century classical music, as well as echoes of Middle Eastern and East European music traditions. Her debut album “Eir”, published on We Jazz Record Label this January, has already traveled far and wide, and has been featured on BBC Radio, France Musique, Radio Free Brooklyn, and many others. The glowing reviews have praised her originality, compositional vigor, and her enigmatic way to tell stories through her music.
