Japanese Prints in Transition
Featuring a permanent collection of works from the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts that haven’t been displayed for more than a decade, the exhibition highlights the stylistic transition between feudal and modern Japan.
The delicately colored prints of actors, courtesans, and scenic views were replaced with brightly colored images of Western architecture, technology, Victorian fashions and customs, and modern military warfare.
