Boulanger’s introspection, Ravel’s coloristic experimentation, and Rachmaninoff’s emotional depth, all reflect the cultural shifts and personal tensions that defined the era. Tanaka’s work, in a sense, looks forward to a world where sound, rhythm, and emotion are reshaped by the forces of technology and globalization. The recital concludes with Gershwin’s Embraceable You, a moment of reflection on how the past and future seamlessly coexist in the music of today.
