Sturtz designs and creates her chess sets utilizing a variety of materials including various metals, ceramic, wood and more. Laura is a strong promoter of peace and believes that all wars should play out on a chessboard. This exhibition will be the largest display of her chess sets shown at any one time. Laura Sturtz, award winning Austin based visual artist, creates artwork ranging from jewelry to small endangered species sculptures, to public art sculptures. Sturtz, former faculty member at Austin Community College, taught for fourteen years in the Fine Arts Department. She has exhibited in local, statewide, national, and international venues. Laura recently completed an artist residency in France at Atelier A.I.R Vallauris where she developed her series of sculptures representing endangered species.

Parking and Entrance -The entrance to South Side Gallery faces the parking lot on the south side of the building. (by the pink railing) Wheelchairs need to enter through the main entrance. (There are stairs to South Side Gallery’s outside door)
