IPCC Family Story Time

Our July 26th story time introduces children to various stories about the character of Rabbit from various Indigenous communities. Sister Rabbit’s Tricks by Emmett Garcia (Santa Ana Pueblo), illustrated by Victoria Pringle, tells the story of Sister Rabbit, who enjoys visiting her friends and relatives in the forest. She also enjoys playing tricks on the other animals, and sometimes Sister Rabbit’s tricks get her into trouble. Inspired by the many rabbit stories from the Pueblos of New Mexico, this story of Sister Rabbit and her antics show us that a trickster animal, wily and lovable, can fool her friends but also needs to learn lessons about how to get along in life. In Rabbit’s Snow Dance: A Traditional Iroquois Story, James and Joseph Bruchac, a father-son storytelling team, retell a traditional Native American fable about how Rabbit, who has a very long, beautiful tail, loses his tail due to his very short patience. Located in the IPCC courtyard Free for children and adult family member
