Intro to Water-Mixable Oil Painting
The Cranach Center for the Arts at Grace Lutheran Church in Clearwater is pleased to announce Intro to Water-Mixable Oil Painting, a four-session course. This course gives the opportunity to explore the innovative water-mixable oil paints that promise greater ease of use than traditional oil paints.
The course will be held on Wednesday September 2, 16, 30, and October 14, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM, and is open to the community. This course is designed for painters who are experienced with water-color and/or acrylic paints who may have avoided traditional oil paints due to their need for harsh chemicals to clean up afterwards. The two-week time-span between sessions is to allow extra time for the oil paint to dry before continuing to work with it.
The first two sessions will teach basic oil-painting techniques using the water-mixable paints, and the last two sessions will give the participants the chance to create a work using the skills they have just learned. The course will be taught by Cranach Center artist Richard Duncan, who has experience with multiple paint media, including traditional oils.
All materials are provided. A suggested donation of $5 per session, as participants are able, will help offset supply costs.
