Installation Art - Artist Spencer Kick

This piece is comprised of forty-two ‘Christmas’ wreaths, that are adorned with two-hundred and fifty-two toys, in reference to the innocent children and teenagers who’ve lost their lives to unruly violence. Artist, Spencer Kick said, that when he first began this piece forty-two kids had been killed by gun violence in Chicago during 2023, but that number only kept multiplying since its beginnings. Kick stated that these kids were not just statistics or a number on a page, but real, breathing, living human beings, who’s futures are gone. During this Art Installation at Governor’s State University, we will also be hosting two other art events: Art Forum, will be showcasing, displaying and selling sculptures, prints, drawings, ceramics, paintings and much more: With Live sketch artists, and live screen printing on both May 1st and 2nd, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., located in the Hall of Governors at Governor’s State. Reconstructed, will be having an unveiling of their Spring 2024 Art and Literary Journal. This event will take place on Wednesday, May, 1st from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., located in the Hall of Governors at Governor’s State. Journals will be available for purchase during this event.
