Celebrate American Independence in downtown Yonkers! Join us for live music, games, and family fun coordinating with the City of Yonkers and Yonkers Downtown BID for programs leading up to evening fireworks on the Yonkers waterfront. Listen to the lively tunes of the Tappan Cowboys, try your hand at an arcade of historical games, enjoy a classic movie marathon, and show your displeasure with King George III as you try to dunk him and yell 18th century insults.
Admission to this event and the museum is free all day!
Live Music: The Tappan Cowboys
The Tappan Cowboys are a group of skilled musicians who play a lively mix of Americana, country western, bluegrass, and folk music from a range of time periods.
18th Century Carnival Games
Skittles are an early tavern game loosely based on ninepins that combine skill and luck. Can you make the top go the furthest and knock down all the pins?
Try quoits (also known as ring toss) to test your aim and accuracy.
Join us on the Philipse Manor Hall's own bowling green for lawn bowling! This game was extremely popular in the 17th and 18th centuries and yes, New York City's Bowling Green was named for this game (and designed in part by Frederick Philipse II!).
Test your strength and cunning with a game of "England and France!" This two-person tug-of-war game depends on more than brute force. Can you pull your opponent off their pedestal?
Dunk King George III!
Want to tell King George III your grievances or insult him in 18th century style? Dunk King George and his Loyalist supporters in our dunk tank for just $1 per throw and $1 per 18th century insult card. All proceeds benefit the Friends of Philipse Manor Hall and public programs.
Family Movie Marathon
