Hwy 5 Improvements Open House
Residents and businesses are invited to attend the Highway 5 Improvements Open House on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the City Council Chambers (201 S Vine St, Waconia, MN). The project team will share important details regarding the upcoming construction of this project and be available to answer any questions. There will not be a formal presentation, and attendees are welcome to arrive at any point during the event.
The City of Waconia is reconstructing Highway 5 between Olive Street / Highway 284 and Main Street in 2027. During the construction period, this section of Highway 5 will not be accessible to the public. Improvements will include:
• dedicated turn lanes,
• intersection expansion at Olive Street,
• the addition of medians for safety improvements,
• a new roundabout intersection, and
• completion of the extension of the trail system along Highway 5.
