HRGS September Program: How Can Artificial Intelligence Assist Family Historians
Join us at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at The Highlands Ranch LDS Stake Center, 9800 Foothills Canyon Blvd #B, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129 for a video recording of “How Can Artificial Intelligence Assist Family Historians,” by Andrew Redfern, a director of the Society of Australian Genealogists and leader of their AI & IT Special Interest Group. This presentation was recorded in March 2025 at RootsTech. We will pause as needed and will address questions and demonstrate the capabilities of AI after the video.
Have you experimented with Artificial Intelligence in your genealogical research but struggle to get the results you want? Are you looking for quick tips and hints to maximize the potential of AI tools? Or do you just want to learn more about this thing called AI that you’ve been hearing so much about. This session is designed to address these questions and more, providing you with a practical guide to leveraging Artificial Intelligence in family history research and storytelling.
Using live demonstrations where you'll see how to manipulate AI technologies to streamline repetitive tasks effectively, this action-packed presentation will give you key skills to take away and use immediately. The creative potential of AI, including image generation, will also be demonstrated, particularly the required iterative process with real examples and actual prompts provided. Beyond the practical applications, this session will cover key principles of engaging with AI tools to help build a robust foundation for your ongoing AI endeavors. Andrew will also discuss important ethical considerations such as transparency, bias, and privacy.
Arrive early at 6:30 p.m. for networking with fellow genealogists. You never know who might have an answer to your most perplexing research problem.
