How We Get Free: A Haymarket Books 25th Anniversary Event

Please join Angela Y. Davis, Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, Sarah Haley, and Ula Y. Taylor for a book launch and conversation about the legacy of the radical black feminist Combahee River Collective as part of a special Haymarket Books 25th anniversary event. “If Black women were free, it would mean that everyone else would have to be free.” —Combahee River Collective Statement The Combahee River Collective, a pathbreaking group of radical Black feminists, was one of the most important organizations to develop out of the antiracist and women’s liberation movements of the 1960s and ’70s. In this collection of essays and interviews, founding members and contemporary activists reflect on the organization’s contributions to Black feminism and its impact on today’s struggles. This expanded edition features a new introduction by Taylor and powerful new interview with Angela Davis. Cosponsored by Hammer & Hope and Department of African American Studies and African Diaspora Studies, UC Berkeley. Angela Davis is the author of many books, from Angela Davis: An Autobiography to Freedom Is a Constant Struggle. Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor teaches at Princeton University and cofounded Hammer & Hope. Haley teaches at Columbia University and organizes with Scholars for Social Justice. Ula Taylor teaches at UC Berkeley.
