How to Write and Publish an Event While Keeping Your Day Job - Crime Novelist, Tom MacDonald


Learn techniques on how to write and publish your novel while working full-time. Tom is the award winning author of the Dermot Sparhawk crime novels. Tom's latest (5th) novel, The Murder of Vincent Dunn was released October 2022. MacDonald attended Stonehill College, earning a B.A. in Sociology. Fifteen years into a career as a computer programmer, he went back to school and received a Masters in Business Administration from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. There he learned that he had the talent to write, which he later pursued at the University of Southern Maine’s Stonecoast MFA program in creative writing, completing a Masters of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in fiction. Tom is the Director of Harvest on Vine Food Pantry, a ministry of St. Mary–St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Charlestown. He teaches Creative Writing at Boston College, Woods College. He has received numerous awards for his novels. He was nominated for the Shamus Award in 2021.
