Hmong Memoryscape: Diasporic Longing and Remembrance Practices


Since resettlement to the U.S. and other western countries, Hmong refugees have used a variety of remembrance practices to reflect, reminisce, and (re)connect about their history as a stateless people. This talk focuses on different aspects of a Hmong memoryscape, drawing on contemporary texts by Hmong/American writers and artists whose works explore Hmongness by engaging with themes of loss, displacement, the fleeting nature of belonging. This talk featuring Dr. Chong Moua, is funded by and a part of the "Leading the Way: The Charles Wilson '69 Symposium. High Auditorium for Collaborative Learning, Steinman Center. Free and open to the public.
