On Good Friday, April 14th, 1865, Our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, was mortally wounded while attending the play - Our American Cousin- at Ford's Theatre as the American Civil War was drawing to a close. Lincoln was the first American president to be assassinated and it was carried out by the well-known stage actor John Wilkes Booth. The pursuit, capture, trial and execution of the conspirators brings this fateful event of 1865 to a close.
