In 1874, some well known New Yorkers died from rabies following a dog bite. The fear of rabies intensified when several medical leaders suggested even healthy dogs could transmit the disease. Panic resulted as the papers were filled with articles on " cures" and some draconian measures to prevent dog bites. Our program will be presented by Dr. Jill Knapp - historian and GHS board member. All are welcome to this free event but registration is required due to limited seating.
