Highlands Ranch Genealogical Society November 2024 Program: Probate: Where There’s a Will or Not
Join us at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at The Highlands Ranch LDS Stake Center, 9800 Foothills Canyon Blvd #B, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129 for a presentation of “Probate: Where There’s a Will or Not,” by Christine Cohen. Probate records after an individual's death relate to a court's decisions regarding the distribution of the estate to the heirs or creditors and the care of dependents. This process took place whether there was a will (testate) or not (intestate). Various records may be found in probate files, including wills, bonds, petitions, accounts, inventories, administrations, orders, decrees, and distributions. These documents are extremely valuable to genealogists and should not be neglected.
Christine is a long-time member of the Whittier Area Genealogical Society (WAGS) and is currently the Program Director. In addition to WAGS, she is also a member of the El Redondo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (Past 1st Vice Regent), the Society of Daughters of Holland Dames, and the Association of Professional Genealogists.
Arrive early at 6:30 p.m. for networking with fellow genealogists. You never know who might have an answer to your most perplexing research problem.
Also, if you would like help using FamilySearch and the many other resources of the Highlands Ranch FamilySearch Center for your genealogical research, Kevin Cope, the Center Director, will again be available starting at six p.m. to assist anyone who comes at that time.
